On this date in 1526 (May 26th), Hans Denck rebaptized Hans Hut in Augsburg, Germany. Considered a pivotal event in Anabaptist history: Denck the mystic rebaptizing Hut the end-times preacher. Their respective careers as Anabaptist leaders were bright but short-lived. Both men would be dead within a year and a half. Denck died of the plague in Basel, Switzerland, in November 1527. He was probably under 30 years old. Hut died of asphyxiation in a prison tower fire in Augsburg on Dec. 6, 1527. He was in his late thirties. ~The Marginal Mennonite Society Anabaptist History Series
